Rant 1: I know I've said this before, but it's still incredibly annoying: If you don't like a NON-canon pairing, you don't have to split them up so you can write your OTP. Therefore, you really don't have to bash character A to make pairing B/C work. Really, I promise. If there's no plot/character development reasons to have pairing A/B in your fic, you really don't even need to mention said pairing if it's not canon. Rant 2: Aizen's not going to be overjoyed because Grimmjow got a girl (I think she was an arrancar... is that even possible?) pregnant. ( Because the Espada are just one big happy family )Rant 3: Sanji of One Piece liking a FOC is not enough to go on if you're trying to determine if the OC is in fact a Mary Sue. No, really. Do you know why? Because there isn't a shapely woman in the whole of the world of One Piece that Sanji would not immediately go gaga over unless the first time he meets her she's trying to kill one of his nakama (of course, he can get over this pretty quickly). Seriously, you should be more worried if he doesn't like the new pretty FOC. The point where Sanji's liking her becomes a Mary Sue thing is if she, well, likes him back. Extension to Rant 3: ( Standing Toe to Toe with the Main Characters Does NOT a Mary Sue Make. )Rant 4 (Because I'm on a roll): Look, Ororo is awesome, I love her to pieces. But, you know, you don't need to make Jean Grey a colossal, unmitigated bitch in your AU in order to prove this. Seriously. ( Die for our ship! )Current Mood: aggravated

Oh God.
The 2009 H1N1 flu, commonly known as "swine flu," is considered pretty damn serious. If you have it, you generally feel like your ass has been thoroughly kicked by the flu. It is considered life-threatening, particularly to children. Worldwide, it has claimed over 10,000 lives. Granted, this is peanuts compared to Spanish flu, but WHO and the CDC are taking this quite seriously. It is also ridiculously contagious, as it is the flu and thus an airborne pathogen.
So if ten-year-old Ben Tennyson has swine flu, I highly doubt that his grandfather would be continuing to take him on that cross-country road trip. More likely, I think he'd probably take him to a hospital and call his parents to let them know what happened and try and see if there's any way to get him back home. Particularly when you write that he's got a fever so high that you know it can kill!
Letting ten-year-old Gwen run the risk of infection by staying by his side and nurse him for fluffy hurt/comfort? Is right out.
This has been all over the news to various degrees since before it officially became pandemic. Seriously, where the hell have you been all year?

By popular demand: Top 10 most kick-ass heroines in kdrama: no order. 1. Seosono, Jumong Queen Seosono is one of the toughest, strongest women out there. The drama may be called "Jumong" but without her, the legendary warrior/ruler/founder of Gogureyo would have probably died young unlamented by all. Seosono, when we first meet her, is a merchant princess, travelling with her father's caravans through dangerous territories as the leader. When, eventually, she becomes a queen, you know this is someone truly competent to run a kingdom. She can fight, she is smart, and she is tough, pragmatic, and no-nonsense. When they first meet in fact, Jumong is a spoiled weakling, cossetted by his mother but loathed by his half-brothers who have literally left him to die. It is up to Seosono to whip him into shape. The relationship they enter into transforms from mentor-mentee and employer-employee to pragmatic allies, to friends, to finally lovers. But whatever else changes, one thing does not - Seosono remains strong throughout. Hey author that’s been posting anywhere between one to three short fics a day, every day, for the past few weeks:
Instead of apologizing for the lack of beta, the lack of proofreading, and/or stating that it did not turn out the way you wanted it to, have you thought of spending more time and effort on each individual fic instead? You keep saying that you just didn’t get the chance to beta/proof/fix it, yet you have time to write an entirely new story instead. Why not make one better and then move on to the next? If you really desperately want to write the next one right now, go and write it, but don’t post the first one until you’ve had a chance to do it right.
Also, and this may just be my inner bitch talking, I really don’t care about the homework you are avoiding or your fish that needs to be fed or whatever else you may have going on as you are not posting to your personal journal, but to a fic community. Also, again, no I have not “been waiting anxiously" for the next fic from you. I have been waiting for someone else to post to the comm who believes in pesky little things like plot, characterization, and spelling.
